Amy Dreher

Photographer Queens, NY

I’m a Brooklyn-based photographer who documents the life of abandoned or disused space and cultural oddities. I am drawn to urban spaces whose usefulness or function has transformed. I seek out those places that are on the outskirts of the world; that, at the time I shoot them, are not quite what they are supposed to be.

I have spent the last 5 years documenting the construction and life at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

My photos have been published in several books: A Place of Remembrance, The Official Book of the 9/11 Memorial (National Geographic); The Stories They Tell: Artifacts from the National September 11 Memorial & Museum (Rizzoli), The Survivor Tree: A Story of Hope and Healing (9/11 Memorial), and September Morning: Ten Years of Poems and Readings from the 9/11 Ceremonies New York City (9/11 Memorial).
